I can tell things are
starting to get back to normal because I am behind on keeping up with this
blog! Audrey turned 6 months old (how is
that possible?!) last Wednesday and she celebrated with getting her first tooth
and her first prescription for antibiotics!
I just read back through her 5-month post and she has definitely changed
in the past month! She is obviously
still the best baby girl ever, and here’s why…
She weighs 21 lbs 2 oz and is
29 inches long! Aka the size of a one
year old. She is actually wearing 12-month
clothes; I cannot keep up with her changing sizes! She can sit up on her own but still topples
over every once in awhile. She loves to
sit up and play with Aiden and Aiden is now asking to play with Audrey!
Her smile is absolutely
contagious and she shows it a lot! Even
through the runny nose and painful tooth, when she wasn’t screaming to be held,
she was smiling J. She has the
cutest giggle. She is very ticklish on
her sides and also giggles when we walk down the basement stairs with
Aiden. Apparently that’s hilarious!
She is eating pureed fruits
and veggies! So far she loves peas and
apples, but has also tried carrots, sweet potatoes and pears. I’m having trouble knowing how much to give a
6 month old who is the size of a one year old.
The doctor recommended feeding her three times a day plus bottles. We are working up to that, but it’s hard to
find time and she’s also been eating less with being sick. She tries to hold the spoon and rub it on her
sore gums. Actually, she tries to rub
just about anything on her gums.
She loves to move! At first I thought she might be a later
crawler since she has so much to lift off of the ground. But now I’m not so sure. I put her on one end of our floor and a few
minutes later she’s at the other end.
She likes to roll around after Aiden.
She’s taken her first few
rides in the stroller, sitting in the actual seat. It won’t be long before she has outgrown her
pumpkin seat. Time is going WAY too
fast!
It’s hard to believe Audrey
was born 6 months ago. It’s so cliché,
but they really do grow up SO fast. I’m
emotional about both of my babies growing up, but knowing Audrey is our last
baby makes it a little tougher. I’m so
grateful to be able to be home with both kids right now and soak up this
precious time. Happy half birthday, baby
girl!
We remember another little girl who grew quickly, so we know your experience on that. You know the old rule-of-thumb of doubling the age to get the size? I think for "typical" kids, that was supposed to be for (at most) the first year. For Madi, we wound up doing that until she was about 7 or 8 years old (I think)! As long as you keep with the healthy habits routine, I am sure everything will smooth out better and sooner for you than it did for us. :-)
